3 Kings and the African Giant did not come to play, redemption game strong.

Sitting here writing this post still on a high from last night's epic Burna Boy show at Rebel, we cannot help but appreciate 3 Kings’ strong redemption game! But more on that redemption in a bit.

To give context, Burna is currently the biggest - yes we said biggest - act out of Africa! Dare we say his success is on everyone's radar and if it's not on yours, here is what you need to know. Burna is a musical giant that has an ability to keep things fresh, lyrics meaningful and general swag dripping so hard you will slip into anticipation for more of his musical genius. As only an African giant can do, he has worked with a spectrum of musical powerhouses like Grammy Award winners Fall Out Boy, Future, Mr Eazi, African legend Angelique Kidjo, Damian Marley, and Serani, to name a few. And of course he has a whole trophy case of accolades to go with these collabos from Nigerian Entertainment Awards, The Headies , MTV Africa Awards, Soundcity MVP Awards and most recently BET Awards, where his momager (move over Kris Jenner) gave a speech so powerful it needs to be etched in stone!

Before Sunday, Burna Boy had never been to Toronto and when there were some hiccups in his initially scheduled show on August 9th, everyone, including us, watched 3 Kings IG stories for the official touch down. A giant (see what we did there) sigh of relief later, when he tweeted from Vancouver that his Canadian Grand Finale show taking place in Toronto came with a surprise, even the skeptics were turned to believers.

Burna Boy has certainly raised the caliber of performance the Toronto crowd expects and we are here for it!

Fast forward to 11pm Sunday evening when Burna hit the stage with the energy of a music god, the crowd LOST IT and all disappointment from the no-show a week before was all but forgotten. His energy, his style, his stage presence and ever flirtatious engagement with the crowd was a gentle (but not-so-gentle) reminder of why Burna commands the respect for his craft that he does and again confirming why he is the biggest African artist of the right now; Complete with a 6 piece band and DJ, his performance was worth the hype! As if that wasn't enough, he brought an unexpected guest - Wande Coal - and the crowd could-not-contain-themselves! Surprise!

He came, we saw, he conquered

He came, we saw, he conquered. Burna Boy has certainly raised the caliber of performance the Toronto crowd expects and we are here for it! A huge congratulations really is due to 3 Kings Management, PR Diva Communications and all involved in shutting the house down!
